Volunteer for one-off events
If you are interested in an unique, fun and social way to give back then why not volunteer for an event?
Events are usually held to help generate very important funds for an organisation, to promote an idea or a cause, or bring a community together. Volunteers are pivotal to their success. The best thing is, you can help make this difference by, usually, only volunteering a couple hours of your time!
Not only are they for a great cause, but volunteering for an event can be extremely rewarding and fun, due to the diverse and social nature. In the past 6 months we have helped connect volunteers with theatre festivals, concerts hosting international acts, quiz nights, start-up weekends, baking events and many, many more. Due to one-off nature of event volunteering, event roles pop up and close all the time on Collaborate, so if you see something you like, get in quick!
Below we have listed a snap shot of the some of the current event volunteering opportunities. Check out Collaborate for the most up-to-date events you can get involved in!

Cerebral Palsy Society of NZ
Cerebral Palsy Society of NZ are looking for some fantastic event volunteers to help us with our Haunted Hogwarts event in Wellington (at the old Fever hospital). The event is a family friendly event that seeks to raise funds for the Cerebral Palsy Society of NZ. There are many different roles for the volunteers including ticket collectors, man sausage stands, set up and take down equipment, and generally be wonderful people. People who want more responsibility may be able to implement new fundraising ideas.
Not in Wellington? They are also looking to build a network of volunteers across the country, particularly in major urban centers such as Christchurch and Auckland, so keep an eye out on their roles.

Kai for the Community
Kai for the Community bring Christchurch's most vulnerable together for 2 hours on a Sunday evening to share a hot meal in a warm venue. Every Sunday they welcome around 80 people with a hot drink and then serve a basic but nutritious meal followed by dessert. For some of these people who have no home, it will be their only healthy sustenance for the week. To serve a meal the most vulnerable in our community and to witness their respect and thanks is a very humbling experience. Their small team of volunteers supply and cook the food in their own home and we are currently working to increase the number of volunteers we can call on to help spread the load. You can volunteer as a one-off or ongoing.
